Everton injury news: Youssef Chermiti update emerges after Brentford inclusion
Everton striker Youssef Chermiti appears weeks away from starting in the league after his muscular injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that it was a Grade 3 setback based on how long he was out.
The positive for the young Portuguese striker is that he returned to the Toffees bench against Brentford on 26 February.
Premier League start still some way away for Youssef Chermiti
Chermiti was an unused substitute on Wednesday night but his return to the matchday squad signals he’s on the right track towards his recovery.
The 20-year-old is yet to play a senior first team game in any competition this season for the Toffees.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Dr Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Chermiti: “My reading is that he had a significant muscular injury, I’d say Grade 3 based on the timeline of his absence.
“The club are focusing on bringing him back gradually.
“I still think he’s weeks away from being ready to start a Premier League.
“His return to the bench was a major first step.“
David Moyes may be told to use the striker sparingly this season at Everton
Given Dr Brar’s assessment, David Moyes may be told by the medical staff to use Chermiti sparingly as he will be eased back into action.
Having played no game this season, he will be at a high risk of re-injury and the intensity of the Premier League might be too much initially.

Fans are yet to see what Chermiti can bring to the table as he’s just been handed one league start since his move to Goodison Park.
Still only 20, he knows that there’s no pressure to deliver instantly and right now, the focus will be on getting match fit again.
Hopefully, he does not suffer any more setbacks from now until the end of the season, and he can get decent league appearances under his belt and fight for a regular starting role in the 2025/26 campaign.
