Hull City ready to hire David Moyes’ son in backroom shift

Hull City are said to be eyeing up a move to add David Moyes’ son to their team as they look to save themselves from Championship relegation this term.

His son, also named David Moyes, has worked with his father previously during his time at West Ham but is now wanted by the Championship club.

With the Tigers currently sitting one place above the relegation zone in the second tier, they are set for a backroom change in order to try and secure a brighter future.

Moyes set for Hull City hire

Moyes previously worked as a football agent but in more recent years, he has made the move into scouting, which is the role he had during his time at West Ham where he worked alongside his Dad before a Goodison return.

He left his job in East London at the same time his Dad left in 2024, upon the expiry of his contract with the Irons and since then, has not had a permanent position at a football club.

However, according to Alan Nixon (2 March), Hull are ready to appoint him in a top scouting position to join their side.

The Championship club are said to want to make changes to their transfer team, something they have done regularly over the past number of years and hope that Moyes will be a part of that.

The Tigers currently find themselves sitting 21st in the Championship table, two points clear of the drop zone meaning there is certainly plenty of work to be done even if their league for the new term is not yet known.

Moyes looking to replicate Dad’s success at Everton

If Moyes junior can contribute even half of what his Dad has at Everton, then a tenure with Hull City would no doubt be very successful.

Since Moyes’ return to Goodison Park at the start of the New Year, the Toffees have lost just one Premier League game and are unbeaten in seven matches.

The boss seems to have introduced new ideas on the pitch but has also rejuvenated a number of players who look much more confident and assured in their performances.

Whether Hull will find themselves sitting in the Championship or League One next term is yet to be decided and the answer could well determine many factors in Moyes’ job but having worked in the Premier League before, he will have the knowledge and experience to guide him through.

Furthermore, if Everton have any young players who are in need of experience and game time, the Tigers could surely find themselves benefiting from that with loan deals between the two sides who could see an enhanced relationship.

With his Dad’s guidance throughout his footballing career so far, you can imagine that if the younger Moyes did make the move to Hull he would be in a good position to provide the services necessary to help to turn things around.
