David Weir ‘to partner’ Moyes at Everton after recent developments

David Weir may partner David Moyes at Everton in a behind-the-scenes change under The Friedkin Group (TFG), according to The Esk.

Kevin Thelwell’s contract at Goodison Park expires at the end of the season, and he will not continue as the director of football beyond his tenure.

Weir is one of the names TFG have on their radar, but it remains to be seen whether the Toffees will be able to get a deal over the line for him.

Change is on the horizon at the Blues, and there have been suggestions that the Brighton chief could potentially be hired soon.

Everton to appoint Weir as technical director

Weir could be appointed as the technical director at the Merseyside outfit, The Esk says.

The forensic analyst believes the revamped structure at the Toffees will include the Brighton chief alongside Moyes.

It has been claimed that Moyes could possibly be allowed to retain a more prominent influence at the Blues, similar to what he enjoyed in the past.

Speaking on the Talking the Blues Podcast (transcribed on 3 March), The Esk said: “It will be really interesting to see the direction which we go in now, which I believe will include Weir coming in as a more technical sporting director and allowing Moyes to do pretty much what he did previously.”

TFG should go all out for Weir

TFG should go all out for Weir at Everton after his tremendous work has seen Brighton become one of the most admired teams in the Premier League.

The Seagulls have built a reputation of being a well-run outfit, something the Toffees should try and replicate.

Farhad Moshiri’s reign at Goodison Park was fraught with mismanagement, particularly with the recruitment and managerial appointments, leading the Blues’ decline.

The Merseyside outfit have been fighting relegation battles in recent seasons, but the Friedkins managed to change that a few weeks after their takeover.

Moyes replaced Sean Dyche at the Toffees, and TFG’s decision has worked wonders as they now find themselves 15 points clear of the drop zone.

The supporters will have growing confidence in the American owners after the Blues have seen their prospects get better since their arrival.

There will be immense confidence among the fanbase that TFG will be able to appoint the right people in the boardroom to take the Merseyside outfit to new heights.

Whether Weir can be convinced to leave Brighton for a role at Bramley Moore Dock remains to be seen.
