Friedkin ‘connections’ revealed amid overseas Everton development – Exclusive

Everton are reaping the rewards of having The Friedkin Group as their owners on and off the pitch.

It has only been three months since Dan Friedkin bought Everton from Farhad Moshiri, but the positive effects are already there to be seen.

The new owners replaced Sean Dyche with David Moyes, who has steered the Toffees away from the relegation zone with four wins in eight Premier League games, while the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium held its first test event in February.

Apart from these short-term improvements, the Merseyside-based club also showing signs of improvement in other areas as well.

Friedkins facilitate USA pre-season for Moyes and Co

Everton are in advanced talks over playing a pre-season tournament in the United States, alongside the likes of Manchester United, West Ham and Bournemouth.

This is a departure from last summer when the Toffees played their pre-season friendlies in the Republic of Ireland and England as they chose not to fly overseas unlike many of their rivals.

This is a result of the Goodison Park now having American owners, according to Dan Plumley.

The football finance expert explained that the Friedkins are tapping into their connections by arranging a pre-season tournament in the United States.

“It’s exactly the type of thing we expected to see from the new ownership group“, Plumley exclusively told Goodison News.

“You’re playing to your strengths; you’re playing to your connections with where they’re based and from. That is absolutely something that we expected to see.

We know that the Premier League is still looking to America for growth potential.

“We know the amount of clubs that are out there in pre-season now and beyond as well, and that’s not just the Premier League, you’ve got the Championship and of course even some clubs into League One that have got American connections.

Everton to benefit financially from Premier League pre-season tour

“So, it’s part of a much bigger picture and I think something we certainly expected to see from Everton and, and you can tie in then the commercial benefits, looking at new partnerships, and it’s all wrapped up in the new ownership group.

“It’s absolutely something that chimes to that and we probably expected to see that at some point.”

The tournament taking place in the United States towards the end of July is the Premier League Summer Series.

Participating in the competition is certain to stand Everton in good stead financially ahead of moving to their new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium.

Meanwhile, Moyes will be hopeful that he has enough money to spend on new signings in what will be the new owners’ first summer transfer window after coming into power.
