Angus Kinnear ‘determined for Leeds United stay’ in new Everton CEO update

Everton are looking to make changes to their hierarchy after The Friedkin Group’s recent takeover, with Angus Kinnear high on their list of boardroom targets.

Ahead of a move to Bramley-Moor Dock next season, the Blues are keen on embarking on a new era in Merseyside as they progress.

Kinnear is being eyed up for a role that would mean bringing him away from Leeds United, where he is currently CEO.

Kinnear update delivered amid Everton interest

With the new ownership at Goodison Park looking to make major changes, Kinnear was named as a front-runner for a backroom role with the Toffees.

However, it has been reported that if Everton do want to poach Kinnear from Leeds, then they would be required to pay compensation for his services due to his contract running until 2026.

A push for promotion to the Premier League at Leeds does not make it an easy time to lure someone away from their current job, though.

Furthermore, it has been reported by reliable Everton outlet Bobble [5 March] that Kinnear is determined to finish the season at Leeds in order to support them with their push for promotion.

That being said, talks between the CEO and TFG are now advancing, and if the Toffees can hold out until the end of the season, then they could well get their man.

TFG lining up change at Everton

The new owners have certainly done well at making Everton supporters forget what they were subjected to previously with their work so far.

The sacking of Sean Dyche seemed to bring a refreshed feeling to the team, and David Moyes has gone from strength to strength with the Toffees since taking over as boss.

However, it looks like the new owners are keen to push change on all fronts and who can blame them for wanting to start a completely new era?

Kevin Thelwell has done a solid job at Goodison Park in difficult circumstances, but sees his contract expire at the end of the campaign and it looks likely that he will leave Merseyside.

It’s understandable that Kinnear would want to stay at Elland Road until the end of the season and finish his project.

However, if the Toffees can ensure they have an agreement in place ready for the summer transfer window, then the deal could suit both parties and allow the Blues to be ready for when that time arrives.
