Merlin Rohl ‘dreams of transfer’ as Florian Plettenberg shares £17m+ Everton update
Everton have been linked with a move for SC Freiburg midfielder Merlin Rohl, with the 22-year-old’s preferred move revealed.
Everton have nothing left to play for this season aside from their own pride and future, meaning attention will have already turned to the summer transfer window behind the scenes.
David Moyes will be hopeful that his side can recruit smartly in the window and inject quality into the areas of the squad that have been lacking it throughout the current campaign.
Midfield reinforcements may not be their priority position this summer, but with links connecting Everton with a move for Rohl, the latest update may have changed that.

Rohl linked with Everton switch this summer
Rohl was linked with Everton back in February, and with the summer window approaching, that interest is going to keep on rumbling, with the latest update from Florian Plettenberg telling.
Writing via his X account (9 April), Plettenberg has confirmed that Everton have “expressed concrete interest” in Rohl, who is said to dream about a move to the Premier League in his career.
Freiburg | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Rohl | 51 | 3 | 4 |
Freiburg are believed to be holding out for offers upwards of £17million for the 22-year-old, with a summer exit “not being ruled out” by either party.
Rohl has been a regular starter in the Bundesliga over the past two seasons, but an injury sustained in March has ruled him out of action since, with the German limited to just 16 league appearances this campaign.

TFG have a huge task on their hands this summer
Since Moyes came in, any fears were diminished, but Everton have been in the relegation conversation for several seasons now in the Premier League, and that needs to change.
However, the only way to achieve that will be to recruit players capable of improving the squad, while providing Moyes with the necessary tools to continue his progress with the Toffees.
Given the lack of competition left to play for this season, there will be no excuses to enter the window unprepared.
