Harrison Armstrong set for ‘Huge’ future after new Everton loanee reveal

Everton youngster Harrison Armstrong is currently enjoying a loan spell with Championship side Derby County.

Armstrong made three Premier League outings for the Toffees this term before joining Derby on loan in the winter transfer window.

The 18-year-old notched an assist when Everton beat League One outfit Peterborough 2-0 in the FA Cup back in January.

He subsequently scored for Derby in their 3-2 win over Plymouth in the Championship on 15 March, and the Rams could be set to avoid relegation back to the third tier, partly thanks to the Toffees man.

Armstrong is making his impact felt at Derby

Meanwhile, Derby boss John Eustace told The Athletic: “He’s been excellent.

“He’s maturing into a very good player. There’s still a lot that he needs to learn, but he’s 18, and that was his seventh start. It’s just his level of concentration. In his defensive roles, he’s very good. He’s got a lovely touch and is getting more involved in our build-up play now as well.

“He’s got a calming influence on the rest of the team. He knows where to put his foot on the ball and play. You can see he’s being educated very well. Harrison’s going to have a huge future, I’m sure.”

David Moyes has a big decision to make on Armstrong

Eustace’s positive comments regarding Armstrong’s ability and his education are a strong endorsement of Everton’s academy.

But the England youth international is yet to make a significant impact at first-team level for the Toffees and has made just six senior appearances for the Merseyside club.

However, he is gaining invaluable experience on loan with Derby in the Championship, while the Rams’ current relegation battle will strengthen the 18-year-old’s character.

Armstrong has not made an appearance for the Toffees since David Moyes returned to the Everton dugout and replaced former boss Sean Dyche.

But the current Blues boss faces a big decision next term regarding whether Armstrong will be a consistent feature in the first team picture.

Derby and Eustace could be keen to make a fresh loan agreement for the teenager’s services ahead of next season, especially if the Rams can retain their Championship status in the coming weeks
