David Hancko transfer: Everton already start negotiations after £20m+ twist

Everton will want to reinforce their squad in the upcoming transfer window and have already started working on signing Feyenoord centre-back David Hancko.

The Toffees have relied on James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite’s partnership for most of the season, but they could arguably do with an upgrade.

Tarkowski has shown his recklessness under David Moyes in recent weeks, and it wouldn’t be surprising if the Blues wanted to sign a replacement soon.

The Friedkin Group (TFG) are gearing up for a big summer at Barmley-Moore Dock and seem ready to invest in the squad next summer.

Everton offer £20m+ for Hancko transfer

Feyenoord have received an offer worth more than £20million from the Blues for Hancko, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

The news outlet reports (10 April) that the Merseyside outfit have shown concrete interest in the 27-year-old defender and have already put in their first bid.

It’s been claimed that the Eredivisie outfit have requested around £26m for the Slovakia international, with the likes of Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Bayer Leverkusen also interested.

CaughtOffside had previously stated (8 April) that the Dutch outfit were resigned to losing the centre-back as long as their £34.1m price tag was matched.

Moyes will want Hancko transfer at Bramley-Moore Dock

Real Madrid have shown interest in Branthwaite after his performances at Goodison Park, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the English defender leave soon.

The 22-year-old’s exit would see the Toffees lose much-needed quality from their backline, with the other options arguably not up to standards.

While Jake O’Brien has shown promise under Moyes, he’s mostly played as a right-back this season, leaving questions around his potential displays as a central defender.

Everton will also lose Michael Keane at the end of the season, with his contract set to expire, and an extension looks unlikely.

Hancko has been at Feyenoord since 2022, playing a starring role in the Netherlands and developing into a reliable centre-back.

The Slovakian national has also shown his versatility at the Eredivisie outfit, being deployed at left-back on a few occasions.

Moyes may need a new defender next summer, and the 27-year-old seems like a decent option for the Blues to pursue.

It will be interesting to see whether the Merseysiders can win the race for Hancko’s signature in the coming months.
