Everton ‘hold talks with Dominic Calvert-Lewin’ amid Newcastle transfer news

Dominic Calvert-Lewin wants his future resolved, and Everton are understood to have held talks with the striker amid a fresh Newcastle United transfer update.

David Moyes is currently without Calvert-Lewin due to injury.

Therefore, with the 28-year-old out of contract at the end of the season, there is a chance that Calvert-Lewin has played his final game for the Toffees.

However, a decision is yet to be made on his future, although that could soon change with talks thought to have been held at Goodison Park.

Calvert-Lewin’s representatives approach Newcastle United

A summer exit for Calvert-Lewin is looking increasingly likely as the clock ticks down on his contract.

And it looks as though a move to St James’ Park could be on the cards.

As reported by the Chronicle (11 April), Calvert-Lewin’s representatives have touched base with Newcastle.

Eddie Howe admires the Englishman, and the Magpies could make a move if Callum Wilson moves on from Newcastle this summer.

Therefore, ex-Goodison scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes discussions would have been held between the forward and the Toffees.

“Howe needs two strikers in his squad,” King said.

“Newcastle will be playing European football next season. Therefore, it is important to have a big squad, and Calvert-Lewin could be a new option for Newcastle.

“The player will want his future resolved before the season ends. Therefore, I think that will have already been discussed, and if he’s not prepared to sign a new contract, then he needs to find another club.”

Everton might need to sign Calvert-Lewin replacement

It is looking more and more likely that Calvert-Lewin will leave Everton this summer.

Whether he ends up at Newcastle remains to be seen. However, if he does move on from the Toffees, Moyes will need a replacement signed. Therefore, that should be a top priority for the Friedkin Group.
