Shearer agrees with what Lineker said about Everton win v Forest

Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer were in full agreement after Everton secured a last-gasp win against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The Toffees travelled to the City Ground on 12 April and came away with all three points against the side sitting third in the Premier League.

An Abdoulaye Doucoure strike on 94 minutes was enough to secure a huge win against the high-flying Reds away from home.

It is fair to say that David Moyes and Co. were fully deserving of the result, which has left Shearer and Lineker on the same page.

Lineker and Shearer delighted by Everton showing v Forest

The Evertonians have become an increasingly difficult side to play against since the Scottish head coach returned to L4 earlier in the year.

It is safe to say that the former Manchester United boss’ return to Goodison has turned the Toffees’ fortunes, summed up by the win in the East Midlands.

The away side were dominant and fully deserved the win regardless of Forest looking likely to capture Champions League qualification.

There was no luck to the result, even Nuno Espirto Santo made that clear with his post-match comments in a sentiment which has been echoed by ex-Everton ace Lineker.

Speaking on Match of the Day (12 April), he said: “Last minute winner, but it was by no shadow, just a smash and grab was it Alan, they were excellent.”

Shearer was in full agreement as he replied: “No smash and grab. Everton thoroughly deserved three points.

“What Everton did to Forest is what Forest have been doing to so many teams this season. They were so well organised.”

Everton deserved win v Nottingham Forest

It cannot be underestimated how much of a difference the old West Ham boss has made since making his return to Merseyside.

Under Sean Dyche, things were beginning to turn sour, and every week felt like a chore for the Toffees supporters turning up week in and week out.

Everything has turned around in that sense under Moyes, and now, supporters look forward to each and every match.

The clash against Forest was no different, with the result and performance proving exactly why that is the case.

The L4 club were dominant and were fully deserving of the win before Doucoure eventually found the back of the net after a devastating counter.

Now, a clash against Manchester City awaits in a test that will prove exactly where the Toffees are in their progression under the Scot.
