Arsenal ace makes Everton transfer decision amid major Celtic development
Everton had been linked with a move to sign Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney in the summer transfer window.
The Scotland left-back’s contract is running out at the end of the season and he will be parting ways with the London outfit.
He moved to the Emirates Stadium in 2019 and after six years with the Gunners, he’s set to leave this summer.

Tierney rejected Everton move to join Celtic
The Toffees are understood to be keen on signing a new left-back this summer as David Moyes appears set to be backed in the window by the Friedkin Group.
Daily Mail reported on 16 April that Bayer Leverkusen, Juventus, Sevilla all showed interest in securing Tierney’s services, along with the Toffees.
Premier League 2024/25 | Position | Points |
Crystal Palace | 12th | 43 |
Everton | 13th | 38 |
Manchester United | 14th | 38 |
However, he made the decision to not move to any of the aforementioned sides on a free transfer in order to seal a return to Celtic.
The SFPL champions announced back in February that the 27-year-old would be joining once his deal ran out in the summer.
They took up the option to discuss pre-contract terms with their former defender and beat the competition to seal his services.

Toffees need to bring in a quality left-back
Tierney would have been an excellent signing for the Toffees due to his proven quality as a dynamic, attack-minded left-back with strong defensive instincts.
His tenacity, work rate and ability to deliver precise crosses align well with Everton’s need for a reliable, energetic full-back to bolster their backline.
At 27, Tierney’s experience at Arsenal and Celtic, combined with his leadership qualities, could have provided stability and versatility, especially under Moyes, who values disciplined defenders.
His Premier League pedigree and ability to play through injuries would have addressed Everton’s inconsistent left-back options.
However, with Tierney rejecting a move to Merseyside in favour of a Celtic return, the Toffees must move on.
Dwelling on a missed opportunity risks stagnation in a critical position.
Everton should target a younger, high-potential left-back like Antonee Robinson, who offers similar attacking flair and defensive solidity.
A strategic move in the summer for a quality left-back will ensure their squad remains competitive and balanced.
