Everton ‘to seal excellent’ £20m+ transfer for Rayan Cherki

Everton have a massive transfer window ahead under The Friedkin Group (TFG), with Rayan Cherki already wanted at Goodison Park.

Dan Friedkin is expected to back David Moyes next summer, following the Scottish manager’s impressive spell since replacing Sean Dyche.

The Toffees had one goal in mind when the former West Ham United manager returned: to survive relegation, and that’s been accomplished.

Moyes has exceeded expectations at Goodison Park, and fans will now want to see a more competitive team at Bramley-Moore Dock next season.

Cherki interest emerges at Everton as Olympique Lyon need to sell

Olympique Lyon forward Cherki would present excellent value for interested teams amid links to the Merseyside outfit, Ben Jacobs says.

The GiveMeSport journalist revealed that Ligue 1 outfit still need to sell to generate income due to their financial issues, handing the Toffees an opportunity.

Jacobs wonders whether the French club will finally sell their prized asset in the upcoming transfer window, with the price tag of more than £20million likely needed to seal a deal.

Speaking on Market Madness (21 April), the journalist said: “Lyon probably still need to sell because Textor will be looking for some income. We’ve constantly heard Cherki linked with the Premier League. I’m told the Liverpool links are just that, rumour for now, and they’ve got other options.

“But several other teams, ranging from Fulham and Everton, have looked historically. So let’s see whether this is finally the window where Cherki goes, likely for a fee [more than £20m].

“And a player of his quality and given Lyon’s financial situation, that could be excellent value to a Premier League club. But there’s nothing advanced at this stage.”

Moyes must be backed at Bramley-Moore Dock

Moyes’ return to Goodison Park has gone better than expected, and he now arguably has the right to demand reinforcements from TFG next summer.

The Scottish manager has demonstrated that he’s the right man to lead the Toffees in their new era, given his achievements in recent months.

Under Dyche, the Blues didn’t look like putting together a positive set of results, but the former West Ham boss managed to do so immediately.

Everton beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 before losing to Manchester City at home, but Moyes’ team showed remarkable resilience to keep Pep Guardiola’s team at bay for a considerable chunk of the fixture.

The Scotsman will now assess his squad in the remaining fixtures, and they need to fight for their place ahead of the upcoming campaign.

With several players out of contract at the Toffees at the end of the season, it’s imperative that TFG adequately recruit players to build a better squad.

Cherki is already a superstar in Ligue 1 and has the potential to take his game to the next level in the Premier League.

Whether the Blues can sign him remains to be seen.
