Sarofim ready to plough in cash, destination of Everton investment revealed

Everton have roped in Christopher Sarofim to their ownership group under The Friedkin Group.

Dan Friedkin and Co. have been active since buying Everton from Farhad Foshiri in December, not least by replacing Sean Dyche with David Moyes for the second half of the season.

The new owners have already reduced the Toffees’ debts, which stood at over £700million, while also securing a £350m refinancing package to fund the new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium in an agreement that would save the club £50m every year.

In their latest move, Everton have announced that Sarofim has joined their ownership group, Roundhouse Capital Holdings Limited.

Sarofim’s net worth stands at £2.8billion+

Sarofim will be given an observer position on the Everton board, with the Friedkins maintaining control over the daily administration, according to The Guardian.

The newspaper reported via their website on Wednesday (23 April) that the American businessman’s family company, Fayez Sarofim and Co., handle assets worth around £23bn, while his own net worth is said to be over £2.8bn.

Roundhouse have brought Sarofim in with the view of having access to ‘broader sources of funds’, with his money going into the ownership group, as opposed to Everton directly.

That means there will be no new shares issued as a result.

However, the Friedkins plan to bring more investors on board, as they consider candidates with ‘specific skillsets and contacts’ instead of vying for celebrity investment.

Meanwhile, planning for the summer transfer window is already underway, as David Moyes looks to strengthen his squad for next season.

Angus Kinnear is confirmed to take charge as the Toffees’ new CEO on 1 June, and will work closely with the Scottish tactician on new signings.

With 13 players running out of their contracts, Everton are in for a big summer transfer window this time.
