Moyes wants TFG to sanction Tomas Soucek signing amid West Ham contract news

Everton may have to reshuffle their entire midfield this summer with several players coming to the end of their contracts.

Abdoulaye Doucoure and Idrissa Gueye will both leave Merseyside on free transfers this summer as it stands, with Doucoure in particular attracting criticism for his display in Everton’s 1-0 defeat at Chelsea on Saturday (26 April).

James Garner has only 12 months to run on his own deal and has been linked with an exit, meaning the centre of the park will be a key area in which to invest in the upcoming transfer window for The Friedkin Group.

TFG urged to reunite Moyes with Tomas Soucek

The Friedkins are overseeing one of the biggest chapter changes in Everton history, having taken over in December 2024 and already got their feet well under the table.

As the Toffees prepare to move into Bramley-Moore Dock, supporters are eagerly anticipating a much busier transfer window this summer than they endured in a PSR-stricken January, in which Carlos Alcaraz arrived on loan.

Many fans have liked what they’ve seen from Alcaraz and want him to sign permanently, but Moyes is already eyeing a reunion with his long-time West Ham United man, Soucek.

The 30-year-old has performed to a relatively high standard in the Premier League across his five years in England, and scored on Saturday for West Ham as they were beaten late on by Brighton & Hove Albion.

According to Alan Nixon via his Patreon (27 April), Soucek is high on a list of targets for which Moyes will urge the owners to sanction.

Nixon reported Moyes returned to Goodison Park on the premise of maintaining a major contribution towards signings, which makes Soucek – under contract until 2027 – a distinct possibility.

Kevin Campbell was huge admirer of Everton target Soucek

Soucek is a player with clear Premier League experience and an exceptional attitude, who has stood out in an underwhelming West Ham side this term.

The towering midfielder is also an established international, having accumulated 79 caps and counting in Czech colours, and featured at the past two European Championships.

The late, great Kevin Campbell was a massive fan of Soucek, having described Moyes’ former star as a “phenomenal” box-to-box midfield hub when speaking to Football Insider in 2021.

Soucek would be a great fit for Moyes’ Everton to replace Doucoure

With Everton’s midfield needing due care, the summer is without doubt the right time to bring in a player of Soucek’s ability to fit seamlessly into the side.

West Ham will also be undergoing major squad surgery at the end of the season, and it would be a move which makes sense given Moyes‘ previous success with the Czech.
