Chris Sutton hits back at what he heard about David Moyes at Everton – ‘Flying’
Chris Sutton does not encourage any sort of criticism of David Moyes and his work at Everton.
Moyes has breathed a new lease of life into Everton since replacing Sean Dyche as their manager in January, taking them to 15th place.
Therefore, there is a lot of excitement around the Merseyside-based club ahead of a squad overhaul in the summer transfer window and their move to the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium.
However, it is worth noting that not everyone was on board with the idea of the Toffees bringing the Scottish back as their manager at the time.

Sutton and Ian Ladyman go at each other over Moyes
Ian Ladyman was among those who thought Everton should have gone down a different route by hiring Graham Potter before he joined West Ham.
However, Potter has since lost eight of his 15 games as the Hammers manager, prompting Sutton to poke fun at his Daily Mail colleague once again.
“You wanted him [Potter] to take the Everton job, didn’t you?”, Sutton said on the It’s All Kicking Off podcast (28 April).
Manager | Matches | Wins | Draws | Losses | Goals | Points | Points Per Match |
Moyes | 16 | 5 | 6 | 5 | 19:18 | 21 | 1.31 |
Potter | 15 | 3 | 4 | 8 | 16:21 | 13 | 0.87 |
Ladyman, though, was quick to hit back at Sutton, pointing out Moyes has managed only two wins in his last 12 matches at Everton.
“Everton, two wins out of 12 for David Moyes’ team”, he replied.
This prompted a sarcastic response from Sutton, who insisted that Everton are ‘absolutely flying’ under Moyes.
He also aimed a jibe at Ladyman by claiming the Toffees are still two places ahead of West Ham.
Sutton said: “Yeah, flying, absolutely flying. How many places are they ahead of West Ham in the table?
“How many league points ahead of West Ham are they? A couple anyway.”
Ladyman, meanwhile, came back with a snide remark of his own, saying: “Happy days!”
Everton eye strong Premier League climax
Although there are four games left to play, Everton have nothing to play for, as they have already confirmed their place in the Premier League.
However, Moyes will still be determined to finish as high up the table as possible in a bid to increase his transfer budget for the summer.
The Goodison Park outfit are currently placed 15th in the table, sitting three points behind 13th-placed Wolves.
The Toffees’ remaining two home games are against already-relegated Ipswich and Southampton.
Moyes will be targeting at least six points from Everton’s remaining four matches.
