Everton ‘to offer Victor Lindelöf £200,000-a-week’ amid transfer latest

David Moyes will need new defenders this summer, and it looks as though Everton could be prepared to spend big.

Moyes will be keen to push on with the Toffees at Bramley-Moore Dock next season.

However, with a host of first-team players out of contract at Everton at the end of the season, major work will need to be done this summer. One of those players out of contract is Michael Keane, who is expected to leave Everton.

In addition, Jarrad Branthwaite’s future remains up in the air. Therefore, a new centre-back might be needed, and it appears as though the Toffees could be ready to splash the cash on Lindelöf.

Everton make contact to sign Lindelöf

As reported by CaughtOffside (25 April), Manchester United centre-back Lindelöf is attracting interest from as many as eight clubs.

Fulham, West Ham, Wolves, and Everton have all made contact with the Swede.

Lindelöf has plenty of experience in the Premier League

Lindelöf is out of contract at the end of the season and will not be offered a new deal at Old Trafford. Therefore, ex-Goodison scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes a lucrative offer could be made to the player.

“Lindelöf isn’t a winner of the ball in the air,” King said.

“However, he has good pace, and he reads the game well. Therefore, he could work well with Branthwaite. He also has lots of experience.

“As a result, if he is a free agent, that makes contract talks that little bit easier. As there isn’t a transfer fee involved, Everton could offer Lindelöf as much as £200,000-per-week on a two-year deal, perhaps with the option for a further year.”

Lindelöf would be a smart signing for Everton

If Everton could agree a deal with Lindelöf, it would be quite a coup.

A short-term deal for a 30-year-old with plenty of experience at the highest level could be of benefit to Moyes and Everton.

Plenty of players have left Manchester United and flourished, and Lindelöf no doubt has the right quality.
