‘Idrissa Gueye Everton exit all-but confirmed’ a £9m transfer update emerges

Idrissa Gueye could be packing his bags at Everton as the summer transfer window looms at Goodison Park.

The Senegal midfielder has been an integral part of the Toffees’ success since David Moyes came in as head coach earlier in the campaign.

This has seen the L4 club rise up the Premier League and now have high hopes ahead of their move to the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium.

Changes to the squad could be afoot ahead of the move across Merseyside, with Gueye potentially set for a departure from Goodison ahead of the new season.

Gueye facing exit door at Everton

The 35-year-old has been a key player in recent months but is facing contract troubles with the Evertonians ahead of the end of the campaign.

The defensive midfielder is out of contract in the summer, but work is being done to tie Gueye down to a new deal before he leaves.

There is potential now that these talks could be cut short, ready for the window, as the potential of a bargain transfer emerged on Merseyside.

Wilfried Ndidi has been targeted at Goodison in the past and is now set to be available for £9million after Leicester City’s relegation was confirmed [BBC Sport, 29 April].

This would represent an excellent fee for the Nigeria international who has been a useful asset for the Foxes across his eight-year spell in the East Midlands.

If the 28-year-old were to come in, the Toffees could part ways with Gueye as there wouldn’t necessarily be squad space for both in L4.

Ndidi to represent coup for Everton

In today’s market, finding bargains can prove to be tricky but there is no doubt that Ndidi could prove to be exactly that moving forward.

Despite a difficult year with the Foxes, the former Genk man certainly has quality which could prove to be useful under Moyes.

Deploying the Nigerian midfielder alongside the likes of James Garner and Abdoulaye Doucoure could be excellent as an option in the middle of the park.

It will be interesting to see who else moves for the Leicester man and whether the Toffees are able to land Ndidi before the season kicks off.
