Abdoulaye Doucoure Everton exit ‘sealed’ after latest transfer news

Everton are set for a transformational summer transfer window as David Moyes looks to put his stamp on things going forward.

As the Toffees prepare for a move to Bramley-Moore Dock, under new ownership, change is expected to be reflected on the pitch too as Moyes continues his growth of Everton.

Several Everton players are approaching the end of their contracts on Merseyside, although with PSR restrictions still at the forefront of many minds in Merseyside, the boss cannot afford to completely overhaul his squad.

Everton set transfer targets for summer

Moyes has expressed a desire to bring more youth to his squad at Goodison Park as he looks towards a more sustainable future with the Blues.

With that in mind, one name on the list of targets on Merseyside is Dan Neil, who has had a strong season at the top end of the Championship with Sunderland.

The Black Cats sit fourth in the table, looking ahead to a play-off campaign, in the hope of returning to the Premier League with Neil, 23, guiding them on the pitch as the captain.

Sunderland’s fate in the play-offs could well dictate how willing they are to strike deals to let players go in the summer transfer window, but Moyes is said to be keen on the midfielder, suggesting this is one he may push hard to complete.

Neil addition has to spell time on Abdoulaye Doucoure at Everton

Although Moyes has to retain some of the squad he already has, the fact that he is eager to get Neil could seal the exit of Abdoulaye Doucoure at the end of the season.

The midfielder’s contract with the Toffees expires at the end of the campaign, meaning he is one man who Moyes has to make a choice over and at 32-years-old, he is certainly not ticking the youthful box either.

The midfielder has made 30 Premier League appearances for his side this season, but his performance in the 1-0 loss against Chelsea on Saturday (26 April) was poor and could suggest that he does not have what it takes to move forward with Everton.

The boss will be required to make some harsh calls at the end of the campaign, including leaving some players behind as the Blues make the move to Bramley-Moore Dock.

Securing the services of Neil could have its part to play on Doucoure’s future but as it stands, one addition could lead to another exit.
