Everton ‘could agree £10m Dan Neil deal’ amid Sunderland transfer news

David Moyes is likely to need new midfielders at Everton this summer, and it appears a deal for Sunderland’s Dan Neil is very much on the cards.

A host of first-team players at Everton are out of contract at the end of the season, including some key midfielders. One of those players is Idrissa Gueye, who is expected to sign an unbelievable contract upon his Everton exit.

Meanwhile, Abdoulaye Doucouré’s deal is also set to expire, and despite the expectation that the 32-year-old would be offered a new contract by Everton, nothing has yet been agreed.

Therefore, it looks as though both players might need replacing, with Moyes turning his attention to Neil.

Everton want to sign Neil from Sunderland

Moyes is expected to hold talks with the Friedkin Group about summer transfers.

However, the new Everton owners will need to be careful after recent financial struggles at Goodison. Therefore, it appears a deal for Neil could be the perfect move.

Neil has been ever-present for Sunderland this season

As reported by Darren Witcoop via the Sunday Mirror (27 April, page 65), Everton are “big admirers” of Sunderland captain Neil.

And ex-Goodison scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes the Black Cats could let the midfielder leave for £10million.

“I think Sunderland would expect around £10m for this player,” King said.

“Instead of bringing in expensive players from abroad, these are players you should be looking at. Therefore, this is a good market for Everton to shop in, players who have had impressive seasons in the Championship.

“If Neil is available for that kind of price, you think of all the money that Everton have misspent, this is the kind of deal Moyes would like.”

Everton might need to wait on Neil decision

Sunderland will play for a place in the Premier League via the Championship play-offs.

Whether or not the North East club are promoted could impact both the asking price for Neil and the player’s decision on whether or not to leave the Black Cats.

Therefore, it looks as though Everton need to wait a bit longer for the picture to become clear.
