Harrison Armstrong tipped to join Wrexham after new Everton admission

Everton youngster Harrison Armstrong could spend next season on loan in the Championship with Wrexham after the player’s recent admission.

After featuring in every matchday squad for the first 24 Premier League games of the season, 18-year-old Armstrong was sent on loan to Derby County in the final days of the winter transfer window.

The Everton youngster has started 11 times in the Championship since his move to Pride Park Stadium and has helped steer Derby away from the drop zone in recent weeks, with one point separating the Rams and the bottom three ahead of the final game of the season.

However, it looks as though Everton supporters might have to wait a little longer to see Armstrong feature consistently on Merseyside.

Everton gem Armstrong wants another loan next season

As reported by Alan Nixon via his Patreon (13 April), Blackburn have Armstrong on their list ahead of a potential summer transfer.

It had been suggested that the midfielder could seal a £10million Everton exit amid interest from Rovers. However, it looks as though a loan move is more likely next season.

While in conversation with Derby fan and author Scott Gretton (24 April), Armstrong confirmed that he would prefer another loan move next year.

The teenager suggested that he would like to rejoin Derby. However, ex-Goodison scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – has mooted Wrexham as a potential destination after the Red Dragons’ promotion to the Championship.

“I think it would be a good idea for Armstrong to head out on loan again,” King said.

“He is young enough. Therefore, if he isn’t going to play regularly in the first team at Everton, it is a good idea for him to go on loan to the Championship again.

“You’ve got some options there, such as Wrexham, which is an idea which could be spoken about.”

Everton should keep hold of Armstrong

Armstrong is one of the more exciting young players at Everton. Therefore, the Toffees should not consider selling the youngster this summer and should instead send him on loan.

In terms of a potential destination, that decision should be made based on what club can offer the most minutes and opportunities for Armstrong to progress.
