Duncan Ferguson ‘certain’ about major transfer decision in Everton rebuild
Duncan Ferguson has urged Everton to strengthen one key position for David Moyes in the upcoming transfer window.
The Toffees are bidding farewell to Goodison Park, with one of the final games in the historic stadium being played against Ipswich Town in the Premier League on Saturday (3 May).
Moyes will want reinforcements at Bramley-Moore Dock before the start of next season, with one area in particular needing to be addressed.
The Friedkin Group (TFG) made the right call by replacing Sean Dyche with the Scottish manager, and they should now back him to make progress in the upcoming campaign.

Everton need new striker at Bramley-Moore Dock
A new striker is needed at the Merseyside outfit next summer, Ferguson says.
The Blues icon believes Moyes “absolutely” needs a new centre-forward in the upcoming transfer window.
Player | Premier League appearances | Goals |
Dominic Calvert-Lewin | 23 | 3 |
Beto | 27 | 7 |
Armando Broja | 10 | 0 |
Youssef Chermiti | 4 | 0 |
Ferguson feels the Toffees are in for a big rebuild soon, with several players’ contracts set to expire, but a new number nine should certainly be a priority for them.
Speaking on talkSPORT (6 May, 8:54), the ex-striker said: “Absolutely, every single team needs a striker.
“But where do you get them? How expensive are they going to be? How much money are [Everton] going to have? But certainly they need to strengthen all over the pitch because most of their team is out of contract.
“So it’s a big rebuild, but certainly up front they need to strengthen.”
Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Armando Broja to leave soon
Moyes may be without Dominic Calvert-Lewin at the Merseyside outfit soon, with the Englishman’s contract expiring at the end of the season.
Abdoulaye Doucoure and Idrissa Gueye are also in the final months of their deals, highlighting the need for a significant overhaul at the Toffees soon.
Asmir Begovic, Joao Virginia, Seamus Coleman, Ashley Young and Michael Keane are also set to become free agents if they aren’t handed extensions.
Everton have Armando Broja, Youssef Chermiti and Beto in their ranks as their goalscoring options, but apart from the Guinea-Bissau ace, no one has lived up to expectations.
Calvert-Lewin has been the Toffees’ first-choice number nine in recent years, but his consistent fitness issues have frustrated fans.
Even if the 28-year-old forward is handed a new contract, the Blues evidently still need to add more depth up front.
Broja will leave once his loan deal from Chelsea at Goodison Park expires at the end of the season, and it wouldn’t be surprising if Moyes’ team don’t trigger the buy option.
A reliable goalscorer should be a priority at the Merseyside outfit next summer, but it remains to be seen who they sign.
