Everton ready Junior Firpo transfer after approach, exit set

Everton are preparing for a busy summer transfer window, and have a lot of gaps in the squad which need filling.

David Moyes is set to lead Everton into a new era at Bramley-Moore Dock, but they will need to strengthen their team as they harbour higher ambitions than fighting in a relegation battle.

Everton will compete against Leeds United again next season after the Whites were promoted back to the Premier League, and could be set to steal one of their stars.

Junior Firpo is out of contract in the coming months and has been linked with a shock move to Merseyside already.

Everton make contact over Firpo transfer

Everton are seemingly keen on signing another fullback in the summer window, and have now reportedly made contact with Firpo’s representatives.

Firpo is likely to depart Leeds after his contract runs out in the summer, and the former Barcelona defender has been linked with a lot of clubs.

TBR Football have now reported that Everton, Crystal Palace and West Ham, among others, have made contact with Firpo’s representatives over a potential move.

Barcelona and AC Milan are also eyeing up the 28-year-old, and a return to Spain could be on the cards rather than a move to Merseyside.

Why Everton want Firpo in the summer

Firpo recovered from a rocky start at Leeds to become a popular figure at Elland Road, and the 28-year-old now has a lot of experience under his belt.

Everton need additional depth at full-back, and given Firpo’s outstanding campaign in the Championship, he is seen as someone who can provide quality cover in the back line for Vitaliy Mykolenko.

The Dominican is strong going forward, and recorded 14 goal contributions in 35 games from full-back this season, while his versatility could also be useful.

The defender has played further up the pitch in midfield, and even across the other side as a right-back in the past, and he would be a useful squad signing on a free transfer if Everton can convince him to join.

Everton have also been linked with centre-backs, and Moyes will want to improve the roster of defenders he inherited from Sean Dyche.

This is certainly one to keep an eye on.
