Richarlison transfer: Shocking twist emerges at Everton as move on cards

Everton have made their decision on whether to sign Richarlison from Tottenham in the upcoming transfer window.

The Brazil international enjoyed a fruitful spell at the Toffees before moving to North London in 2022, but he’s struggled there.

With The Friedkin Group (TFG) wanting to make a statement at Bramley-Moore Dock, the 27-year-old’s return to the Blues may be on the cards.

David Moyes’ striking options at Goodison Park have been underwhelming this season, but the Merseyside outfit’s opinion on the Spurs centre-forward has been disclosed.

Everton reluctant to spend on Richarlison transfer from Tottenham

Richarlison’s transfer to the Toffees from Tottenham next summer is unlikely, Ben Jacobs says.

The GiveMeSport journalist revealed that the Blues are reluctant to sign the 27-year-old, who wants a move in the upcoming transfer window, due to his fitness issues and Spurs’ asking price.

It’s been claimed that the North London outfit could demand around £45m for the centre-forward, something the Merseyside outfit aren’t keen on.

Speaking on Market Madness (6 May), Jacobs said: “There is no doubt that Richarlison is going to be looking for a move this summer. Saudi Arabia are interested, with Al-Ahli trying in the past. But my understanding is that Everton are reticent on Richarlison because of the injury record and the price that Tottenham are asking for.”

“It’s not going to be quite as high from Tottenham’s perspective as last summer, when the number was £60m or no business, but Richarlison is still valued by Tottenham in the region of £40m to £45m.”

TFG right to be wary of Richarlison transfer

Moyes has had to rely on Beto since his return to the Toffees as Sean Dyche’s replacement, with the other number nines on the sidelines.

Dominic Clavert-Lewin has been out of action at Goodison Park for several weeks now, and it remains to be seen whether the Englishman will stay beyond this season as his contract expires soon.

The Scottish manager has also been unable to give Armando Broja and Youssef Chermiti regular minutes due to their consistent injuries.

Everton must back Moyes in the upcoming transfer window, and the addition of a new number nine should be a priority.

While Richarlison is a fan favourite at Goodison Park, TFG are right to be wary of signing him due to his struggles at Tottenham.

The Brazil international has struggled to remain fit this season, and the Toffees arguably can’t have faith that those same issues won’t repeat in the upcoming campaign.

It’s good to see that the Blues are being vigilant about their approach for the 27-year-old instead of being emotional about it.

There’s no guarantee Richarlison will return to his best in Merseyside, and they should look for alternatives.
