Everton sources issue major Beto exit development

Everton striker Beto has been linked with a summer transfer to Leeds United, who recently secured promotion to the Premier League.

Despite being the leading scorers in the Championship this season, Daniel Farke’s side are understood to be keen on adding to their firepower in the final third.

The last time they got promoted, they managed to stay in the top flight for three seasons before getting relegated.

While a number of players are set to leave because their contracts are expiring, Beto’s exit could see the Toffees rake in some money.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin future key to Beto’s potential departure

Dominic Calvert-Lewin did not have fitness issues for the first half of the season, but has missed the last few months due to injury.

His contract at Goodison Park runs out at the end of the campaign, and he’s no closer to signing a new contract.

However, his staying put on Merseyside beyond this summer, cannot be ruled out, and there are expected to be conversations in the near future about their plans.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post on 8 May, sources on Merseyside have indicated that Beto’s sale is possible this summer.

However, that’s possible only if they can secure Calvert-Lewin’s future and get him to sign a new deal.

Along with that, Everton also want to sign a new striker before they sanction the Guinea-Bissau international’s sale.

Everton should look to cash in on Beto

If Everton can profit from selling Beto, they should seize the opportunity.

The 27-year-old striker, signed for £25.8million from Udinese in 2023, has shown flashes of brilliance with a purple patch of five goals in nine games during the 2024-25 season.

However, his overall inconsistency—12 goals in 63 appearances—highlights his struggles to deliver reliably.

Beto’s raw physicality and work rate are undermined by erratic finishing, with a dismal conversion rate, costing Everton in tight matches.

With David Moyes’ looking to go to the next level, cashing in on Beto could fund a more composed, clinical striker to complement Calvert-Lewin.

Interest from Leeds along with Serie A clubs offers a chance to recoup or exceed the initial fee.

By reinvesting in a proven goalscorer, the Toffees can address their need for precision in front of goal, enhancing their Premier League competitiveness
