Everton ‘handed Vladimir Coufal transfer boost’ after West Ham development

West Ham United right-back Vladimir Coufal is staring Everton in the face as David Moyes looks for defensive reinforcements.

The Scottish manager has managed to survive relegation from the Premier League this season, a prospect that looked realistic under Sean Dyche.

Moyes will now expect The Friedkin Group (TFG) to bolster his squad in the upcoming transfer window and make further progress at Bramley-Moore Dock.

The Scottish manager has relied on Jake O’Brien as the right-back at Goodison Park, and he’s been handed a boost to reunite with a former star.

Coufal opportunity emerges for Everton after West Ham release

West Ham have confirmed that Coufal will be one of the players to leave the London Stadium next summer.

The East London outfit revealed on X (9 May) that the Czechia international will not be offered a new contract, with his current deal set to expire in the coming weeks.

This presents the Toffees with an opportunity to sign the 32-year-old as a free agent, with the right-back already making an admission about wanting to stay in the Premier League.

Speaking to iDNES (25 March), when asked about a potential reunion with Moyes, the defender said: “When I am free, anything can happen. But my priority is England, the best league in the world. I want to prove to myself week after week that I have what it takes.”

Seamus Coleman and Ashley Young to leave soon

Seamus Coleman’s contract at Goodison Park expires at the end of the season, with the Ireland international potentially set for an off-field role at the Toffees.

Since returning to the Blues, Moyes has mostly used Ashley Young as a backup, and the former Manchester United star’s exit could also be on the cards as his deal also ends in the coming weeks.

The Scottish manager will undoubtedly want to bolster his backline ahead of the move to Bramley-Moore Dock, and a reunion with Coufal may not be the worst idea.

Everton have taken impressive strides since TFG’s takeover, and Moyes’ return has been one of the key factors in that success.

The Scotsman has previously worked with the Czech defender at West Ham and knows what to expect from him.

With several players out of contract at Goodison Park, the Toffees will arguably need to be realistic about how much money they can spend.

Getting a proven player like Coufal for free may leave funds to reinforce other areas of the pitch.

Whether the Blues will make a move for the 32-year-old remains to be seen.
