Everton must take advantage of the potential exit of Jarrad Branthwaite this summer.

This summer is going to be a crucial one for Everton, as they prepare for a new era at Bramley-Moore under David Moyes.

Since arriving, the Scotsman has worked wonders at Goodison Park to get the Toffees back on track, though their ability to carry on progressing will largely be determined by the business they conduct in the summer transfer window.

With that in mind, the latest update on Branthwaite may serve as a blow in the short term, but the Toffees can take full advantage of it in the long run.

Chelsea want to bring Branthwaite to Stamford Bridge

Ever since breaking into the first team, Branthwaite has been outstanding for Everton, though that form has ultimately come at a cost heading into the summer.

Chelsea have been mooted as a potential landing spot for the defender, with the Blues set to test Everton’s resolve with a summer bid to try and prize him away from Merseyside.

Real Madrid have also been sniffing around for his signature, showcasing just how difficult it will be for the Toffees to keep their star man.

However, if their attempt to retain his services fail, Everton simply have to find a way to incorporate a sell-on clause in his contract, which could see them profit substantially in the future depending on how much development occurs in his game.

Branthwaite exit could benefit Everton

Losing one of your key players is never a good thing, but for Everton, the sale of Branthwaite would provide them with the funds to massively bolster the rest of their squad.

Several areas are lacking real quality, and Moyes will be intent on finding new signings to address those concerns next season.
