‘Everton now want to sign the new Isak’ after Beto and Calvert-Lewin developments

Everton could be in line to land an Alexander Isak-esque star this summer.

The Toffees are in desperate need of forward reinforcements in the upcoming window after parting ways with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Armando Broja.

This is likely to see David Moyes assess his options before taking a plunge on any new signings on Merseyside.

With that being said, the opportunity to sign a forward who could be as good as the Newcastle United star may be too good to pass up.

Everton eye Isak-style forward transfer

As it stands, the L4 club are going to be left with just Beto and Youssef Chermiti as senior striker options ready for the new campaign.

This would be a brave decision given the level of competition in the Premier League next season, and could be solved with one summer signing.

A move for Rangers forward Hamza Igamane could be in the pipeline with Foot Mercato journalist Sebastien Denis reporting (11 June) that the Toffees have shortlisted the 22-year-old.

After just one season in the Scottish Premiership, the Morocco international could be on his way to the Hill Dickinson in the coming weeks or months.

This could prove to be a real coup for Moyes and Co. given how similar the forward profiles are to Isak at Newcastle.

Both players register similar levels of non-penalty goals, progressive passes received, progressive carries and successful take-ons [Fbref, 11 June], which can only be soon as a positive.

A deal in the region of 6million-8m could be struck by Everton this summer after a glowing reference from Derek Ferguson to Goodison News (13 February).

He said: “You’d be looking at between £6-8m to prise him away [from Rangers]. He’s still young, he’s still progressing and improving, but he’s an entertainer.

“He’s a talented boy, Igamane, and you can see him playing down in England, but it’d take a good £8m to get him.”

Igamane could replace Calvert-Lewin at Everton

At the end of a lengthy transfer saga, it was decided that the ex-England international was going to be leaving Merseyside this summer.

This hardly comes as a surprise, but that doesn’t take away from the gap in the squad that he leaves after moving on from L4.

As good as Beto has been at times, having Igamane as an option could certainly prove to be useful with his skill, pace and talent in front of goal.

It will certainly be interesting to see if Moyes and Co. can complete a deal for the Moroccan and whether he can replicate Isak’s success in the Premier League.
