Everton goalkeeper exit ‘done deal’ – He won’t be at Hill Dickinson next season

Everton look set to start the summer light in the goalkeeper position.

The Toffees are preparing for a busy window as the Friedkins look to have an impact on their first pre-season in charge on Merseyside.

This is likely to leave David Moyes with plenty of work to do, particularly in between the sticks as that area continues to grow weaker.

Moving into the summer, a deal looks set to be completed, which is likely to spark further moves in L4 moving forward.

Everton to confirm goalkeeper exit

There is no doubt that Jordan Pickford is the number one for the Toffees and will be hugely difficult to move out of that role.

The England international has been superb ever since signing from Sunderland and looks likely to continue this form for many years.

With that being said, a new goalkeeper, or two, still wouldn’t go amiss at the Hill Dickinson Stadium after a series of exits in the same position.

This comes after Joao Virginia confirmed his departure at the end of the season, ending an eight-year association with the L4 club.

The Portuguese isn’t alone in leaving the Toffees, with Bosnian news outlet Oslobodjenje reporting (12 June, page 30) that Asmir Begovic is set to join Sarajevo in what is now a “done deal”.

The probability of the 37-year-old returning to his homeland is said to be 100 per cent after negotiations, as confirmation is awaited from all parties ahead of the summer.

Begovic to confirm Everton exit

The former Stoke City man was destined to depart Goodison once his contract came to an end, after a four-year stint with the Blues.

The keeper may have made just 12 appearances in L4, but his experience could prove invaluable in the squad regardless of his quality.

Even if that may be the case, it looks as if Begovic is going to depart, and now new goalkeeper options will be assessed by Moyes and Co.

This has seen Sheffield United number one Mike Cooper linked already, although no concrete move has been made on Merseyside as it stands.
