Everton ‘to seal Iliman Ndiaye replacement’ as winter exit soon to be confirmed

Everton need attacking reinforcements ahead of their Premier League campaign.

The summer transfer window is well underway, though as it stands, Carlos Alcaraz remains the Toffees’ only addition.

With that said, several others will be expected in the coming weeks, with a deal for Manchester City’s Kyle Walker on the cards.

However, signing an attacker will be a priority for David Moyes, who is set to lose Iliman Ndiaye midway through the new campaign.

AFCON will disrupt Everton’s season

As of right now, Everton‘s main focus will be signing players to fill the gaps required to bolster their squad ahead of the new campaign, though plenty of other considerations will need to be made in the coming weeks.

With the African Cup of Nations getting underway in December, Premier League sides will lose those competing within it for several weeks, and it will be no different for the Toffees.

Senegal, Ndiaye’s home nation, have already qualified for the competition, and it feels almost guaranteed that he will be called up to the squad when that time arrives, leaving Everton light in the attacking department.

His absence will be a major blow, but it is one that can easily be subdued if the Toffees sign another attacker who can replace him while he is on international duty.

Senegal have a strong squad, and will be one of the favourites to win AFCON, meaning that Everton will likely be without their star man for an extended period of time over winter.

Moyes will need attacking depth

Ndiaye spearheaded Everton’s revival under Moyes last season, and his absence was felt whenever he wasn’t available for selection.

The Toffees will be aware of that, and will need to prepare for the time when he does jet away with his country.

If the Merseysiders can get recruitment right this summer, the sky is the limit for them next season, and with several weeks remaining in the window, they have no excuses not to.
