‘Everton to make loan offer for Weah’ after transfer update – Exclusive
Everton could be ready to make a move for Timothy Weah as David Moyes looks to add potency to his side.
Last season’s success under Moyes was largely due to a huge uptick in defensive shape, with Everton conceding more than one goal on just three occasions in the Premier League after the 62-year-old’s return.
There was a marked improvement in attacking play, too, but goals continued to come at a premium, with only Iliman Ndiaye and Beto ending the season with more than four league goals to their name.
Moyes has prioritised this issue in the transfer market, and could be set for a boost.
Everton have enquired about Timothy Weah
As reported by Sébastien Denis via Footmercato (19 June), Everton have made enquiries into signing Timothy Weah from Juventus.
The 25-year-old has struggled to make a name for himself since joining the Turin giants in 2023, despite making over 40 appearances last season, and is currently competing in the Club World Cup.

Weah’s flexibility has seen him play in several positions across both flanks, and could help fill any areas of the squad The Friedkin Group struggle to adequately upgrade on this summer.
However, ex-Goodison scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes that Everton are likely to make a loan offer for Weah, rather than commit to a permanent deal at this point.
“Weah still has three years left on his contract,” King said.
“Therefore, I think a loan deal will be the initial starting point. They certainly shouldn’t go and pay £15-20m for him straightaway.
“However, if they can get him on loan with an option to make the transfer permanent, that’ll be the way to go. It would give Everton and Juventus a chance to take a look at him and make their own respective decisions.”
Weah loan move makes sense for Everton
The Blues have relied on loan deals to get them over the line far too often in recent years, and should be targeting younger players willing to commit to the long-term project.
Nevertheless, as Everton continue their ambitious rebuild, a loan move for Weah makes a lot of sense.
The American international lacks Premier League experience, but has plenty of pedigree, having played for Paris Saint-Germain, Lille, Celtic, and the Old Lady.
His versatility would help Moyes next season, and would allow the Scotsman to properly assess his attributes and work ethic up close before committing to his permanent signature.
