Everton ‘to spend £20m package’ on Kenny Tete transfer as deal close – Exclusive

Kenny Tete looks set to become Everton’s first signing of the summer transfer window.

The Dutch right-back’s five-year spell at Fulham is coming to a close as his contract with the Cottagers is set to expire at the end of the month.

Everton have identified the former Ajax man to replace the outgoing Ashley Young and potentially Seamus Coleman, who could begin a coaching role.

The Friedkin Group have promised higher profile arrivals. However, they will still need to make astute signings, and will be pleased with the latest developments regarding Tete.

Everton reach verbal agreement to sign Tete

As reported by Fabrizio Romano via X (22 June), Everton have reached a verbal agreement to sign Tete as a free agent.

The Brazilian was a reliable performer under Marco Silva in West London, starting 21 of the 24 games he was available for, and will bring a wealth of Premier League experience to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

However, ex-Goodison scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes that the total package of Tete’s arrival will still cost Everton around £20million.

“Everton don’t need to pay a fee for this player,” King said.

“Therefore, if he is signing a three-year contract, I think the total package could cost Everton about £20m, if we’re including signing-on fees.

“He’s going to be on about £5m-per-season I would have thought. However, this is important, as full back is an area that Everton need to strengthen in.”

Everton fans could be worried about the signing of Tete

Tete will bring a lot of experience and is a dependable presence in the back line while still being at a good age. As a result, the signing makes a lot of sense for Everton.

However, it is not the type of signing that the Blues have been hoping for following the grandiose statements of intent that TFG have made since their arrival.

The Everton faithful are crying out to sign Thierno Barry or Aleksandar Mitrovic. Therefore, they will be growing impatient and slightly worried by the fact that the club are reverting to free signings again.
