Dan Friedkin has to ‘break up £21m+ Everton and Roma transfer scrap’

Everton are in desperate need of new signings this summer.

While Jarrod Branthwaite’s touted new contract at Everton is a fantastic development, the Toffees have done little else this summer.

David Moyes will be expecting multiple new faces this summer if the Merseyside club are to finally move away from the relegation zone.

Many stars have been linked to the Hill Dickinson Stadium. However, other clubs have now also started to take an interest in the Toffees’ targets.

Everton-linked Matt O’Riley wanted by Roma

Everton have been linked with Brighton’s Matt O’Riley this summer.

The midfielder has failed to perform at the Seagulls since his move from Celtic last year.

As a result, the 24-year-old could be set for a quick exit from the AMEX Stadium to rekindle his form.

However, according to Corriere dello Sport (28 June), Everton now face competition for his signature from Roma.

The Dane is available for £21 million and is waiting for negotiations to begin between Roma and Brighton.

Given this news, Dan Friedkin has to make a quick move for the midfielder and end the scrap between Everton and Roma for O’Riley.

While he did not perform for Brighton, injuries played a big factor in his disappointing campaign.

O’Riley proved how good he is at Celtic, and Friedkin should take a gamble and sign the Dane.

O’Riley could be a game-changer for Moyes

If O’Riley can find his form at Everton, the midfielder could prove to be a game-changer for Moyes.

At Celtic, the 24-year-old exceptional in front of goal, and contributed to 62 goals in his three-year stay.

As a result, he won numerous trophies and individual awards, including Celtic’s Player of the Year in the 2023/24 campaign.

With Everton struggling in front of goal, O’Riley could be the catalyst to ending these concerns and help the Toffees shoot back up the table.
