‘Friedkin’s masterplan already on show’ as Everton sign Dutch midfielder Van Gool
Everton Women completed their first signing of the summer on Monday as Rosa van Gool was added to their ranks.
Everton had been previously linked to Van Gool last week after impressing at Ajax.
Now she has joined Everton with a stunning CV, with the Netherlands-Under 23s midfielder reaching the Champions League quarter-finals in 2024.
The 21-year-old was out of contract this summer, which allowed the Toffees to swoop in for the midfielder on a free transfer.

‘Goodison Park will be surreal’ – Van Gool
One of the most exciting parts about the upcoming WSL season is that Everton Women will be playing at Goodison Park.
The Friedkin Group decided to keep Goodison Park for the women’s team rather than knock it down after the men’s side moved to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
While this move has been controversial, there is no doubt that many of the girls are excited to play at the ground, including new signing Van Gool.
She told Everton’s official website (30 June): “I think playing at Goodison Park will be surreal. I have been there for a tour and it shows the rich history of Everton.
“It is amazing I am joining this club, and in my first season, I’m going to play at Goodison Park. I can’t wait.
“Looking at all the games at Goodison Park with the Men’s team, at the atmosphere that is there: I think it’s amazing.
“The development of women’s football is really important to me, and with the owners of this club, I can see they are really progressing it, and the women’s team is a big part of Everton.”
This is proof that Dan Friedkin’s master plan is already paying off. Players are clearly attracted to the prospect of playing at Goodison Park, and this is allowing the Toffees to bring in some big names.
Hopefully, this will continue throughout the summer as Brian Sorensen looks to add more names to his squad.

More investment needed in Everton Women
Now that progress is being made, Friedkin cannot afford to stop here, and more investment is needed.
As it stands, Everton have the chance to become a dominant team in the WSL with their stadium standing above many of their opponents.
Rosa van Gool’s Ajax stats last season | |
Appearances | 18 |
Goals | 2 |
Assists | 1 |
While this may take some time, there is no reason why the Toffees cannot go on to dominate England.
Hopefully, Friedkin will see this and pump more money into the team over the next few years.
