Angus Gunn offer made as double Everton transfer on cards after Barry agreement

Everton could potentially be on the brink of a double signing with Angus Gunn and Villarreal striker Thierno Barry.

The Toffees have been heavily linked with the 22-year-old French centre-forward as they look to bolster their attack ahead of next season.

Villarrreal have reportedly struck an agreement for Barry’s move to the Merseyside outfit this summer for around £32million.

While Jordan Pickford is expected to be David Moyes’ number one at the Blues, a new goalkeeper may arrive in a double swoop.

Everton offered bargain Gunn transfer as free agents being explored

Former Norwich City shot-stopper Gunn has been offered to the Toffees, according to The i Paper.

The news outlet reports (2 July) that the Blues are in contact with several potential free agents as they aim to reinforce their squad.

It’s been claimed that the Merseyside outfit have been handed an opportunity to sign the 29-year-old Scotland international to be Pickford’s possible backup.

With Asmir Begovic and Joao Virginia leaving Goodison Park after their contracts expired, Moyes could arguably do with more options in between the sticks.

Gunn could be one of many free agents signed at Bramley-Moore Dock

In recent weeks, the Toffees have lost several key players, including Abdoulaye Doucoure and Ashley Young, who are now free agents.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin also won’t be part of Moyes’ plans for next season after deciding to pursue a new chapter in his career.

The Blues arguably must add more depth to their team if they want to be successful under the Scottish manager in the coming months.

Everton are right to be searching for free agents, as they undoubtedly need more than a few players to build a competitive squad.

It would make sense for the Toffees to save their funds for quality transfers, which they will need after the departures of some influential stars.

While Barry’s transfer seems to be all but done, supporters will want to see the Blues sign a reliable goalscorer after years of seeing their team struggle in the attacking third.

It will be interesting to see who the Merseyside outfit will sign in the ongoing transfer window, with all eyes on The Friedkin Group (TFG).
