Everton now in ‘advanced talks’ to sign Thierno Barry after exit confirmed

Everton fans haven’t had much to get excited about during this summer’s transfer window.

Captain Seamus Coleman has signed a new contract, but other than that, all the news is about players departing.

The exit of Dominic Calvert-Lewin was confirmed earlier this week, despite the club attempting to negotiate a new contract with the beloved striker. Several other players have been released following the expiry of their contracts.

However, there is at least some exciting news surrounding a potential replacement for Calvert-Lewin at the head of Everton’s attack.

Everton now in ‘advanced talks’ to sign Thierno Barry

Thierno Barry is a target man who has enjoyed a breakthrough season for Villareal, scoring 16 goals for the Spanish side last season. He has been identified as the perfect replacement for Calvert-Lewin.

Barry is keen on a move to England, and Everton have been locked in discussions with Villareal this week with a view to bringing the striker to Merseyside.

Spanish sports journalist Diego Otera has reported that Everton are now in ‘advanced talks’ about making the deal happen.

Otera, who works for ElDesmarque, confirmed that Otera is keen on playing in the Premier League.

If Everton could seal the deal in the next few days, that would help to heal the pain of losing Calvert-Lewin on a free transfer.

Everton must embrace new dawn to continue their progress

For the past few weeks, Everton executives have been locked in negotiations with first-team players with expiring contracts.

They lost Calvert-Lewin, much to the dismay of many fans. The likes of Michael Keane and Idrissa Gueye are now officially free agents, but the club is still in discussions with these players over a new deal.

Everton supporters will hope that these negotiations are over soon, so the club can focus on moving forward.

David Moyes improved the team immensely last season. There is a brand new stadium waiting for them on Bramley-Moore Dock. There’s a lot to be excited about for Everton fans.

The signing of Barry would represent a new dawn in Everton’s attack, and will hopefully allow everyone to start focusing on this exciting future.

There’s still plenty of time left in this transfer window for Moyes to build a new team befitting of this top-of-the-range stadium.
