Alan Myers shares what he knows on Barry to Everton amid Premier League interest
Everton appear to be closing in on the signing of Thierno Barry, but a deal is not yet agreed with Villarreal.
David Moyes is keen on signing a striker, and is nearing landing his first key signing of the summer in Barry, who spent just one year in Spain.
Everton need reinforcements this summer after losing a number of first-team players upon the expiry of their contracts, and the Villarreal attacker would be a high-profile one.
A number of Premier League sides are said to be interested in Barry, but there has now been a positive update for Everton fans.

Everton progressing well in talks for Barry
While a deal is not yet agreed, reliable Everton journalist Alan Myers has now given an update which should excite fans.
It has been reported that a deal is agreed between the two clubs despite interest from other Premier League sides, but this is not the case just yet, although this could be reached before too long.
Everton are set to pay just below Barry’s release clause, and the 22-year-old is keen on a move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The Frenchman scored 11 La Liga goals last season, and now appears set to move to the Premier League with Everton, and he could be a strong long-term signing.
Myers posted on X (2 July): “It’s very likely to happen, but nothing signed yet. It’s progressing well, though.”
Everton fans need to be patient with Barry
Barry joined Villarreal from Basel last year, but quickly attracted interest after his promising performances helped his side qualify for the Champions League.
Although raw, Barry won over the Villarreal fans quickly with his speed and work-rate, while his movement has seen him terrorise defences in Spain.
The striker is still young and relatively inexperienced, and may need some time to settle under Moyes, with Barry set to start as a lone striker rather than in part of a two, as he did with the Yellow Submarine.
Everton need to prepare for some frustration in his first season, but they will hope that Barry can be moulded into a top-class striker in the future.
