‘Dan Friedkin holds all the cards’ as Everton consider move for Zeki Celik

Everton wants defensive reinforcements this summer ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Now that Moyes has tied Jarrod Branthwaite to a new deal, he is on the lookout for a new right-back.

Zeki Celik is seen as an option, with the Roma star entering the last year of his contract.

As a result, speculation has increased about where the Turkish international’s future lies.

Celik a ‘serious option’ for Everton

With Kenny Tete now opting to stay at Fulham, Moyes has been forced to look elsewhere for a right-back.

As a result, according to Foot Italia (3 July), Everton are considering a move for Celik.

The 28-year-old has been at Roma since 2022 and was part of the team that finished as runners-up in the Europa League.

Now, the right-back has emerged as a “serious option” for the Toffees, with Fulham, Ajax, and Besiktas all showing interest in the Turkish international.

However, it is Dan Friedkin who holds all the cards in this ongoing transfer saga.

The Everton owner is also the chairman and owner of Roma and will have to sign off on Celik’s departure if he does leave this summer.

Therefore, Friedkin could be the difference maker for the Toffees and sanction the sale to Moyes’ side.

Everton have to utilise Roma links more

While Everton cannot become dependent on Roma, they must look towards their sister club for potential options.

There are many players at Roma who Moyes could tempt into a move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

With many of these having top experience internationally and in Europe, the Scotsman has to consider a move.

Hopefully, the Celik transfer opens the door to more moves between Everton and Roma as the transfer window heats up.
