Everton situation changes to sign Weah as Leeds transfer news emerges

Everton continue to be linked with a switch for Timothy Weah.

The Toffees are yet to complete a signing at this stage of the window despite a number of strong rumours for David Moyes and his side.

The US international has emerged as a target this summer after a number of positive seasons with Juventus in Serie A.

Now, the L4 club have learned of the 25-year-old’s situation as newly promoted Leeds United enter the race to land Weah this summer.

Everton learn Weah situation at Juventus

There will be a need for a number of signings before the season kicks off at the Hill Dickinson Stadium after multiple departures were confirmed.

This has seen Thierno Barry edge closer to a Merseyside move, which could solve some of the problems in the forward line.

With that being said, the addition of a versatile option down the flank and as a potential second striker could prove to be very wise.

That is where Weah could step in as an Everton move could be possible as he continues to be linked with an exit from the Serie A giants.

It appears that the Toffees are now going to face competition for the ex-Lille ace as French outlet Foot Mercato reported (4 July) of interest from Leeds United.

The Whites have joined the Blues in the race to sign the American, as “the situation has changed” in recent hours, as Tottenham fell out of the running for his signature.

Now, the versatile 25-year-old has an option between remaining at Juve in the Champions League or fighting further down in the Premier League.

This leaves the son of legendary striker George Weah “spoiled for choice” as he decides where his future lies, ready for the 2025/26 campaign.

Everton must convince Weah of summer transfer

Although many fans didn’t think very much of Jack Harrison, the Englishman will still need replacing at the end of his loan spell.

This could prove to be the perfect opportunity to land Weah, given how versatile he can be across both flanks and even at right back.

As the Toffees look to begin a new era across Merseyside, this is the sort of signing that would certainly catch the eye of the wider footballing world.

The American could link up well with his new Evertonian teammates, providing a point of difference to Iliman Ndiaye, who was so superb last campaign.
