‘TFG avoid ridicule at Everton’ after Kyle Walker and Burnley development

Kyle Walker was heavily linked with a move to Everton this summer.

David Moyes will hope that his Everton side can seal several new additions this summer, and with a deal for Thierno Barry close to completion, it seems as though he will get his wish.

Barry will follow Carlos Alcaraz through the door after the latter signed a permanent deal after impressing on loan last time out.

However, reports linking the Toffees with a move for Walker were growing stronger by the day, and after the latest news, TFG have managed to avoid ridicule.

Everton had to avoid Walker transfer

Experience is crucial in the Premier League, but Everton‘s distinct lack of youth at the full-back areas over the last few years has sparked some concern.

Thankfully, with the likes of Jake O’Brien and Nathan Patterson, those concerns have diminished, but the addition of Walker would have certainly seen them resurface.

Walker’s career stats.

Despite all that he has won in English football, Walker is past his best, and in reality, has never been a great footballer, but instead, has been more of an elite athlete.

However, with age catching up to him, those levels of athleticism have started to recede, and he would certainly have been found out had the Toffees signed him.

Instead, newly promoted Burnley have taken the chance on him, and it seems as though TFG made the right call, though only time will tell.

Everton need to take a more youthful approach this summer

The Toffees certainly need players to improve the here and now, but also need to have one eye on the future with the business they do.

Barry, at just 22 years old, is the prime example of that, given the fact that he will immediately bolster their forward line, and still has years of development ahead of him.

It’s shaping up to be a busy month for Everton, who will be no strangers to the task at hand.
