Thierno Barry medical latest as Everton transfer news drops on Sky Sports

Everton look set to complete the signing of Villarreal forward Thierno Barry.

David Moyes‘ side have already signed Carlos Alcaraz, who was on loan at Goodison Park last season, on a permanent deal.

Barry starred with France at the Under-21 European Championships and now looks to set to take on the Premier League.

Now, the move is in the final stages after a new update on a Finch Farm medical for the former Basel ace.

Barry completes Everton medical as move edges closer

Everton could complete their second signing of the transfer window in the coming days, after the deal for Alvarez was wrapped up quickly at the end of the campaign.

A report from Sky Sports (9 July) claims that the French striker has completed a medical ahead of his £27million move.

It states that the 22-year-old is highly regarded after an impressive debut season in La Liga, in which he notched 11 goals and four assists.

Everton could have a real coup in Barry

Barry could turn out to be a real coup for the Toffees if he can fulfil his potential on Merseyside.

His showing in La Liga last season in encouraging due to how fast he adapted to Spanish football; if he can do the same in his new surroundings, it will look like a masterstroke from the Friedkin Group after they secure his signature.

Moyes is desperate for new attacking recruits, as Dominic Calvert-Lewin left when his contract expired and while Beto is set to be the starting striker, he could be tempted away by a new adventure.

Italian club Atalanta are interested in the Blues star if Saudi Arabian clubs secure the signing of Mateo Retegui, which could accelerate Barry’s ascent into the first team, whether he is ready for stardom or not.

The demands on a new striker at the Hill Dickinson Stadium will be hard, but judging by how the young ace has performed so far in his career, he may well fancy the challenge and thrive in L4 beyond the wildest of expectations.

There is still plenty more business needed, but it would be a great start to the summer once the deal for Barry is completed.
