Everton and Douglas Luiz agreement claim made amid £35m development

Douglas Luiz has emerged as a target for Everton this summer.

Everton’s transfer plans have slowed down since the arrival of Thierno Barry, though with just over a month until the Premier League campaign gets underway, it’s unlikely to be long until that changes.

David Moyes has already identified several positions in which he wants to strengthen, with a new midfielder high up on their list of priorities.

Luiz is the one to have been linked most recently, and the Toffees are preparing an offer to sign the former Aston Villa midfielder.

Everton want loan agreement for Luiz

The Brazilian has attracted interest from several English clubs so far this summer, with an exit from Juventus seeming the likely outcome.

A report from Calcio Mercato (14 July) states that the Toffees are now ready to make an offer to sign Luiz, with a preference to do so on a loan-to-buy agreement, which is unlikely to satisfy the Italian giants.

Instead, Juventus want to sell Luiz on a permanent deal, which could throw a spanner in the works depending on the finances available at Everton.

Luiz is valued at around £35million in Turin, though it remains to be seen whether any of the interested sides will be able to stump up that amount of cash.

Moyes needs to see more movement in coming weeks

Since Moyes was appointed last season, Everton have come on leaps and bounds, and if they recruit well this summer, that will continue.

However, a failure to do so will see that progress halted, and TFG will not want to be the ones responsible for that.

There is still time on the Toffees’ side to get their targets through the door, though with pre-season underway, time is of the essence.
