Everton to announce new transfer as Travers reveal emerges on Sky Sports

Everton are closing in on the signing of Mark Travers from Bournemouth as they eye competition for Jordan Pickford.

Travers has completed his medical at the Hill Dickinson Stadium and is finalising his move to Merseyside, according to Sky Sports (15 July).

An official announcement is expected within the coming hours as the Toffees look to clinch their third signing of the window.

Bournemouth will earn an initial £4million for Travers, plus add-ons, as they are in the process of signing Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic.

Everton close in on Travers signing

Travers’ Everton medical was not expected to be an issue, and it now seems that his signing will be a formality.

Iconic commentator Ian Darke exclusively told Goodison News that Travers is set to seal a hefty pay rise at the Hill Dickinson.

The 26-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan with Championship outfit Middlesbrough, where he made 17 appearances.

However, he was always going to find opportunities sparse on the South Coast, given they are pursuing Petrovic.

Travers has been at Bournemouth since 2016 and has made 82 appearances for the Cherries while keeping 30 clean sheets.

The Irishman has been loaned out several times during his South Coast stay and has played for Swindon Town, Stoke City, and Boro.

Now, Travers is set for a fresh venture, where he will get the opportunity to learn from England’s number one.

Travers to take a back seat behind Pickford

While Travers’ transfer may look like a sideways move for some, he is moving to a bigger club with a better goalkeeper.

Of course, the Republic of Ireland international will be expected to sit on the bench behind Pickford, but his chance will come.

Everton will want to fight on all fronts next season, and the 26-year-old will likely receive opportunities in the cup competitions.

Furthermore, there is every chance Pickford could get an injury or receive a suspension, and Travers must be ready.

With the Toffees set to announce another signing, the Merseyside club are plugging the gaps in Moyes’ squad.
