Done deal: Everton agree six-figure transfer with Liverpool

Everton and Liverpool, like all close rivals, do not engage in regular transfer activity with each other.

In the Merseyside clubs’ long histories, the likes of Nick Barmby, Don Hutchison, and Abel Xavier are some of the names to play for both.

However, this summer, there have been murmurings that Ben Doak could swap the red of Liverpool for the blue of Everton.

Now, a transfer between the two Premier League clubs has been confirmed ahead of the new season.

Everton secure Liverpool goalkeeper

The Toffees have completed a handful of business ahead of the new campaign, with Thierno Barry the leading arrival for David Moyes.

Carlos Alcaraz and Mark Travers have also signed for Everton, with the latter arriving from Bournemouth for £4million.

Alcaraz spent the second half of last season on loan from Brazilian club Flamengo, scoring the winning goal against Newcastle United on the final day of the Premier League season.

As for Travers, he will provide competition for Jordan Pickford, but he is not the only goalkeeper to arrive in the North West.

That is because Everton Academy (18 July) have reported the signing of highly rated Liverpool shot-stopper Ruben Savvas for £200,000.

The 14-year-old has represented England Under-15s and will link up with the Everton Under-15s this season.

Toffees plan ahead with Savvas signing

While it will likely be some time until Everton supporters see Savvas in senior action, it is vital to plan for the future.

Indeed, the Merseyside outfit currently have England’s number one with Pickford, and at 31, he has plenty of time ahead of him.

However, it is impossible to know how his future will transpire, meaning the Toffees are wise to invest in budding talent.

The fact that Savvas has represented the Three Lions at such a young age can only be viewed as encouraging.

It will be intriguing to see whether he benefits from any loans as he gets older, or whether he becomes a part of the first-team set-up.

However, Everton supporters will be sure to keep an eye on his development, especially as he swapped Liverpool for the Toffees.
