Everton told to ‘take extra steps’ to seal John Victor transfer
Everton are reportedly considering making a move for Botafogo shot-stopper John Victor this summer.
Dr Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, has assessed the Brazilian’s fitness record and game time ahead of a potential Premier League move.
David Moyes is keen on strengthening his side ahead of their first season at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Victor’s hamstring injury history may be a problem
The Toffees may not consider signing the 29-year-old if there are high-risk issues with his hamstring, according to Dr Brar.
Everton are considering a move for Victor as they want to shore up their goalkeeping department this summer, with the Brazilian club demanding a £10.3million fee. [Bolavip, 8 July 8]
Club | Appearances | Goals Conceded | Clean Sheets |
---|---|---|---|
Botafogo | 81 | 66 | 34 |
Santos | 28 | 32 | 9 |
Internacional | 14 | 10 | 5 |
Real Valladolid | 12 | 17 | 5 |
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Dr Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said about Victor: “The club may take a closer look at his history of hamstring injuries to assess risk of recurrence and determine if there are any outlier or high risk issues.
“If there are, they may decide to abandon their pursuit altogether.
“Also, it would take him some time to adapt to life in the Premier League as well.”

Everton unlikely to pursue Victor’s signing
Victor could have been a solid signing for Everton due to his impressive record of 81 appearances, 34 clean sheets and 66 goals conceded, showcasing his consistency and shot-stopping ability.
His experience across Brazilian and Spanish clubs, including Santos and Real Valladolid, would have provided depth and competition for Jordan Pickford, especially after the departures of Asmir Begovic and Joao Virginia.
However, with Mark Travers’ recent signing on a four-year deal, the Toffees have secured a capable 26-year-old backup with 82 Bournemouth appearances and Premier League experience.
Travers’ youth and familiarity with English football make him an ideal deputy, negating the immediate need for another goalkeeper like Victor.
