Everton to decide on Luiz transfer as midfielder ‘makes intentions clear’
Everton have been hoping to agree a deal with Juventus that would see Douglas Luiz return to the Premier League.
The Brazilian is keen to leave Italy, after struggling to adapt following his move from Aston Villa.
The Toffees need reinforcements, with more signings expected to follow Thierno Barry and Mark Travers in the coming weeks.
And a midfielder is of particular importance to David Moyes, after Abdoulaye Doucoure left at the end of the season.

Luiz puts Everton move ‘on hold’
Luiz excelled for Villa in the Premier League, scoring 10 goals and providing 10 assists in all competitions in his final season at Villa Park.
And Moyes will hope the midfielder can return to that form at The Hill Dickinson Stadium, with Everton needing to add quality to their midfield.
Luiz, who has been capped by Brazil 18 times, failed to recreate his Villa form in Italy, playing just 516 minutes in Serie A as he contended with injuries and competition within the squad.

Despite the move that took him to Juventus costing around £45million, the Old Lady are now happy to let the midfielder go and would likely accept a loan deal including an obligation to buy.
There is competition for the 27-year-old’s signature, however, and, according to Matte Moretto (20 July), Luiz has put any potential move for Everton on hold and is waiting to see if other opportunities arrive.
West Ham are believed to be interested in a move for the midfielder, while Moretto reports that Nottingham Forest are also among the teams weighing up a bid.
Everton cannot afford to wait
With the Premier League’s return rapidly approaching, Everton cannot afford to wait for their favoured targets to become available.
While Luiz would make for an exceptional signing, the midfielder having a proven record of Premier League quality, the Toffees may be better off moving on.
Alternative midfielders are readily available this summer, and having a signing ready for the start of the season will be of the utmost importance to Moyes, even if it is not Luiz.
