Everton to ‘be patient’ as Friedkin transfer panic emerges – Exclusive

Everton were expected to be heavily active in the transfer market this summer.

The Blues have added Carlos Alcaraz and Thierno Barry to their squad ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

However, a significant number of stars departed at the end of their contracts, including Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Abdoulaye Doucoure.

The most significant business of the window may well be tying Jarrad Branthwaite down to a new deal amid interest from Chelsea and Tottenham.

No friction at Everton despite Friedkin delays

David Moyes is believed to want to add to his Everton squad, but the lack of business with just 25 days until the new season begins has caused concern with supporters.

There have been suggestions that the Scotsman is not happy with the speed at which the Friedkin Group are conducting business.

However, iconic commentator Ian Darke believes that there will be no tension between Moyes and the ownership about the lack of signings so far.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, he said: “I wouldn’t have thought we are at that stage of the close season just yet, nobody should be panicking.

“Not a huge amount of business has been done anywhere, alright, Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, but two of those were in the Club World Cup, so they had a reason to get on with it.

“I would have thought you are going to see a lot of late deals, up against the deadline, the reason for that, generally speaking, is that the price comes down; clubs who want to get rid of players make it a little easier to get the deal done.

“Just have a bit of patience and trust the club to get things right, deals are so complicated every day, to negotiate the add-ons, when the fee will be paid, how much will be up front, all this kind of dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s stuff.

“Ideally, you would (want signings in for the tour), but in reality, it never quite works out in that ideal way, does it?”

Everton do not need to panic yet

The Toffees do not need to panic; there is plenty of time to add new players, as Darke states.

Moyes and supporters will trust the new ownership to get it right and bring in the required standard to the Hill Dickinson Stadium before the end of the window.

If it gets towards the deadline and they have still only completed two deals, it may be a bit more worrying, but right now, everyone needs to stay calm.
