Douglas Luiz wants to quit ASAP as Everton ready to seal new transfer now

Everton have been handed a boost in the race for Douglas Luiz.

David Moyes is keen to add some steel to his engine room ahead of the new season, and the Juventus man would be perfect.

He has significant experience in the Premier League from his time with Aston Villa and would have no trouble adapting to his surroundings.

He featured just 19 times in Serie A last season, as he failed to tie down a regular starting berth in Turin, and a change of scenery could be all he needs to thrive again.

Everton ready to pounce amid Luiz latest

Luiz could be on his way to Everton in the near future after new developments emerged from Italy.

A report from La Gazzetta dello Sport (page 9, 22 July) claims that Luiz wants to return to England as soon as possible to help his chances of getting into Brazil’s World Cup squad.

It states that the Blues are ready to pounce as the Italians have opened the door for a loan with an obligation to buy the midfielder, with the likes of West Ham and Nottingham Forest also interested.

Luiz would be a great addition for Everton

Luiz would be an exceptional addition for the Toffees as he would add tenacity and steel that they are missing in the middle of the park.

Top-class midfielders are not readily available this summer, with the Blues already missing out on current Villa star John McGinn, as they do not want to sell.

If the Friedkin Group could get a deal over the line for Brazilian, it would be a real coup, as their top-flight rivals are also chasing his signature.

Moyes is keen on taking his squad towards European qualification next season, and a player of Luiz’s quality would be a huge step in the right direction if they can get him through the door.

The Blues have only signed Carlos Alcaraz, Thierno Barry and Mark Travers so far this summer, and there is a sense that they need to move quickly with their business as the campaign begins in 25 days.
