Everton goalkeeper agrees new contract as Finch Farm announcement made

Everton have made a new announcement, as one of their goalkeepers has now signed a new deal.

The Toffees have a strong goalkeeping roster at senior level, despite the departures of Joao Virginia and Asmir Begovic earlier this summer.

Everton have a settled number one in Jordan Pickford, and have signed a quality backup in Mark Travers.

Academy graduate Harry Tryer is the third choice, after impressing on loan at Blackpool last season, and there are more young talents coming through the ranks behind him.

Everton have strong goalkeeping roster

Everton’s goalkeeping roster is now the strongest it has been in years, following the arrival of Travers this summer, and this could be very important next season.

Pickford is now 31, and while he still has a few years left in him as the regular number one, there may be an eye on the future.

Prospects such as Barnsley could develop into first-teamers, but it is always tough for goalkeepers to break through, and future loan spells could be on the cards.

Travers arrives after a strong campaign in the Championship, and he will compete with Pickford for the number one spot, although the England star does not appear remotely close to losing his place any time soon.

Pickford has appeared without fail for several seasons, with Travers now handed an almost impossible task to break into the team, but having a strong overall roster will benefit every goalkeeper, with all of them pushing each other in training to maintain a high standard.
