Everton join Tyler Dibling race after Jurgen Klopp derails transfer

Jurgen Klopp continues to haunt Everton from abroad as the Toffees join the race to sign Tyler Dibling this summer.

Klopp spent a large part of his Liverpool tenure making life difficult for Merseyside rivals Everton.

In his 19 meetings with the Toffees, Klopp has only been defeated twice, winning 11 times and drawing the other six games.

And despite the German no longer being at Anfield, it seems he has still managed to find a way to cast a cloud on Everton’s summer.

Klopp helped convince Johan Bakayoko to join RB Leipzig

Johan Bakayoko was an important transfer target for Everton this summer, but the Toffees were beaten to the final punch by RB Leipzig.

As reported by The Times on Friday (25 July), Klopp, who is now Head of Global Soccer at the Red Bull Group, spoke with Bakayoko during negotiations ahead of the forward’s move to Leipzig.

The 58-year-old began his role as Red Bull’s Head of Global Soccer in January, making him a senior figure at the organisation, which includes Leipzig.

With Klopp being a highly respected person in football, it would be fair to assume that Bakayoko might have been convinced to join Leipzig over Everton by the former Liverpool boss.

Nevertheless, recruiting in wide areas remains a priority for Moyes to strengthen his squad for the forthcoming season. As a result, Everton have added Dibling to their list of targets.

It is understood that the asking price for the Southampton winger could be a stumbling block, with Everton’s summer budget needing to be spread accordingly.

However, while a deal is not imminent, it seems Dibling is still a target.

Dibling could be one for the future

Dibling’s profile is unique in that he can play as a right winger but also as an attacking midfielder.

The 19-year-old also played a handful of games as a centre-forward last season, where he contributed to three goals. This level of versatility from a player is something a club cannot ignore when weighing up a possible transfer.

Despite Southampton’s relegation from the Premier League, the teenager has demonstrated that he can keep up with the pace of England’s top flight.

Therefore, Dibling could become an important player for the future if he develops at Everton.
