Malick Fofana signs – Which attacker David Moyes could axe at Everton
Everton look set to sign Malick Fofana from Olympique Lyonnais imminently.
The Toffees have made a bid worth £31.4million for Fofana.
It would be a much-needed addition to Everton’s attack if they can complete the deal. Fofana shone for Lyon last season, scoring 11 goals and providing five assists.
Below, Goodison News explore which attacker David Moyes could axe from his starting XI if this signing is completed.

Dwight McNeil could suffer if Everton sign Fofana
Dwight McNeil could find himself struggling to get on the pitch for Everton if they sign Fofana.
The former Burnley winger only managed 23 appearances for The Toffees last season, and found himself out of position on the right wing for some of those games.
It could be tough for him to be selected in his favoured position on the left if Fofana arrives in Merseyside, as this is where the Belgian has been thriving for Lyon.
Iliman Ndiaye has been picked ahead of McNeil on the left wing for some games, although it’s thought that Moyes wants to use him in a more central role just behind the striker.
Everton need to improve on McNeil if they’re to progress
McNeil will hope that his versatility will help to secure him some starts for Everton next season.
He was asked to play on the right wing by Moyes, and he can’t be faulted for the effort he put in.
However, if Everton want to compete for European places and domestic honours, they’ll need wingers who can contribute more goals and assists.
| Appearances | Minutes Played | Goals | Assists |
| 23 | 1556 | 5 | 6 |
McNeil has 15 goals in his last three seasons for Everton. He’s never scored more than seven in one season for the Toffees or Burnley.
He has good technical ability and works hard for the team, but his end product isn’t good enough for a team that wants to compete among the Premier League’s elite.
Moyes surely understands this, and that’s why he’s willing to spend big money on Fofana. Therefore, this transfer could come at the expense of McNeil.
